Unheard Voice

My name is Eleanor Vance. I am thirty-two years old. I am going to rant to you guys for a bit, if that's alright?

Any of you ever feel like your voice isn't loud enough to be heard? No matter how much you scream? That's exactly how my sister, Carrie, makes me feel. Ever since Mother died, she's the person that I hate most. I spent eleven years taking care of our invalid mother. Because of this, I am deadly shy, and I have no friends. It's just as well seeing as my sister would never allow me to go out with them if I had any.

Despite all of this, I had been waiting for something to happen. After years of waiting, something finally did. I got a letter from a Dr. Montague in the mail. He wants me to go to this place called "Hill House" to partake in some experiment. My sister and brother-in-law thought it was improper for me to go aid the doctor in his experiments for they were afraid. I am not afraid, however. I promptly accepted the invitation via mail.

"I am going, I am going, I have finally taken a step" (Jackson 10).
